About me!
My name is Marlies Kaehli - Dairy farmer by birth, a graduate of the University of Guelph, BSc(Agr) '89, but more recently, a lover of growing plants, especially dahlias. Being raised on the farm, I learned that paying attention to detail always pays off. Many tips and tricks for how to raise, grow, harvest and prepare many foods using homegrown ingredients, was learned from my mom and dad growing up on the family farm. My husband Walter and I chose to raise a family and work the dairy farm on the same property.
I've experimented with all sorts of things over the years, and have recently settled with being lover of all things Dahlias and dill pickles. In the summer, my gardens have grown larger and larger each year. As I started splitting my tubers, and those found new homes with my close friends and family, I thought why not try to take this passion of mine and turn it into a bit more than just a hobby. I have had to borrow photos from the internet, hope that's ok, and I do appreciate the help as I continue to learn new-to-me technology.
All tubers in my store have been grown and divided by hand by me in the greenhouse on our farm in Grand Valley. They say farm to table when it comes to food, but when it comes to our flowers I like to think of it as farm to garden or farm to vase. You won't be disappointed in the beauty of these tubers, and they'll provide you with all sorts of amazing colors to enjoy from June to late September (climate depending).
Dahlias are so beautiful and the world needs more beautiful.
The love for Dahlia's is genetic! This is my granddaughter Layla with her own hand picked bouquet that she grew with her mom using tubers from my greenhouse!
